“Serve the Lord with gladness!” – Psalm 100:2
Welcome to the Altar Servers Ministry
At Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop Parish – Rotorua, our Altar Servers play a vital role in the celebration of the Mass and other liturgies. They assist the priest with dignity, care, and reverence, helping the whole community to worship in beauty and order.
This ministry is a beautiful way for young people to love (Aroha) God, live (Ora) their faith joyfully, and lead (Ārahi) others through their service.
We welcome:
• Boys and girls who have received their First Holy Communion
• Youth who want to serve the Church in a meaningful way
• Those who are willing to attend training and serve with care
You don’t need experience — just a willing heart, a respectful attitude, and a readiness to learn.
🕊️ What Do Altar Servers Do?
Altar Servers assist in the following ways:
• Carry the processional cross and candles
• Hold the Roman Missal for the priest

This ministry helps deepen their understanding of the Mass and fosters a spirit of prayer, teamwork, and joy in serving.
