At Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop Parish, the Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Confession) is a sacred encounter with God’s mercy. It is a moment of healing, hope, and new beginnings.
We all fall short at times – in our words, actions, or choices. But through Reconciliation, we are reminded that God’s love is greater than our sins. He welcomes us home with open arms, just as the father welcomed the prodigal son.
💬 What is Reconciliation?
Reconciliation is one of the seven sacraments of the Church, where we confess our sins to a priest, express genuine sorrow (contrition), and receive God’s forgiveness and peace through absolution. The priest, acting in the person of Christ, assures us: “Your sins are forgiven. Go in peace.”
It is not a place of judgment, but a moment of grace. Whether it’s been weeks or decades, you are always welcome.
🕊️ First Reconciliation for Children
Children preparing for their First Reconciliation are guided through our Sacramental Preparation Programme. For more information about enrolment and class times, please contact the parish office.
💖 “God’s mercy is greater than our mistakes.”
In the words of Pope Francis, “The Lord never tires of forgiving. It is we who tire of asking.” The Sacrament of Reconciliation offers us a clean slate and strengthens us to begin again.
No matter how long it has been, now is always the right time to come back to God.
